About Us

Background

Our firm presently consists of nine individuals with expertise in auditing, taxation, litigation support, accounting and business consulting. The client base is very diversified and is typical of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolitan area. The most significant areas of our practice are financial institutions, the oil and gas industry, the construction industry, real estate entrepreneurs and wholesale distributors.

We represent in excess of 300 clients that are principally small to medium sized individually owned businesses requiring auditing, taxation, litigation support, and consulting services.

Our firm is the successor to Samson, Robbins & Associates which was formed in 1989. Mr. Tapp became a partner in 1998, Mr. Cobb was admitted as partner in 1999 and Mr. Jenkins was admitted in 2003. Mr. Robbins, Mr. Cobb and Mr. Jenkins have held several senior level management positions with national CPA firms. Mr. Tapp and Mr. Cobb have also held senior management positions in the private sector. Mr. Tapp has specialized in auditing and accounting for over twenty five years with an emphasis in the oil and gas industry and financial institutions. He also has extensive experience in international oil and gas exploration and production activities. Mr. Jenkins has been a bankruptcy consultant for over thirty years.

Business Experience:

Currently is Partner in charge of Firm’s tax department. Over thirty years experience primarily in the field of Federal and Estate taxation. Served as tax partner for several national firms.

In charge of national firm’s Dallas tax department for four years. Specialized in tax planning for real estate entities, services entities, manufacturing companies, oil and gas companies and for bankrupt and insolvent debtors.

Robert Kirk Cobb - Tax Partner

Business Experience:

Currently practices in a variety of tax areas including bank taxation, trust and estate income taxation and planning and oil and gas taxation. Previously served six years as the financial Vice President of an oil and gas production and real estate concern. Responsibilities included financial, tax and legal aspects of various related companies including the operation of three producing oil and gas fields and a well servicing company

J. James Jenkins - Partner

Business Experience:

Currently practices public accounting in bankruptcy cases including advising debtors, trustees committees and individuals creditors. Over thirty years experience in public accounting. Has served as a Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 trustee and as an examiner in bankruptcy cases since 1985, in addition has served as president of two manufacturing and marketing concerns.

Has previously been co-chair of the Bankruptcy Taxation Committee and the Professional Compensation Committee of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI). Also was a member of the Board of Directors of the ABI. Served as a member of the Small Chapter 11 Workgroup of the National Bankruptcy Review Commission. Currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.
